CON SENT

The Wonders of Ceramics & Glass Works

The group show Con Sent, 2nd-22nd of June 2022, featured Five Nordic Glass & Ceramic artists.

Ulla Forsell

Ulla Forsell is an established artist within glass and has been studying at the College of Art and Design in Stockholm and in Holland. She now lives in Stockholm and has her own workshop there in which she has been creating glass since 1974.

She is famous for her circular dishes with “three-dimensional” application of flowers, leaves and fruits. She has also been working a lot with mirrors and the reflection of light and colour on them. She has been inspired by old museum collections, baskets of solidifying flowers and grapes, bottles, funnels and magic drops from laboratory, botanic, old window glass and grandeur mirrors.

Ulla is represented at the National Museum in Stockholm, Röhsska Museum in Gothenburg, Corning Museum of Glass in New York State, Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg.

My passion is blown glass formed by hand into vessels or flat panels. My work is richly decorated, bordering on Baroque. I seek to capture the sensual element in glass with shimmering surfaces, though also promoting a dark and mystical aspect by using traditional silvering techniques. Nature is constantly present buts its beauty is threatened.

Monica Johansson

As an artist, Monica Johansson has always liked variation and therefore her style is to constantly seek new ways and paths. Fascinated by the processes, transformations and rhythm she creates interest in unexpected combinations of shape and colour. Monica says "It's the challenge of walking the tightrope, one is simultaneously sure and unsure." The artist prefers bright colours, especially yellow, which radiate joy and sunshine. Similarly the movement and rhythm of her creations are often inspired by circles, the results can be either sculptural or more functional. For a ceramist the surface of her work is also important and again she loves to work with the contrast of hard and smooth, or inner and outer. Monica's art education history sources back between Sweden, France, Algeria and Switzerland, and she has exhibited in multiple places in Sweden, Paris, New York and Japan.

Sara Lundkvist

Sara Lundkvist is a young and upcoming glass artist in Stockholm. She was educated in Sweden, the US and Denmark.

In Sara’s glass art you can see that she is inspired by magical phenomena, spiruality and science fiction. Her objective is for the glass works to reflect human desires, hopes and dreams. With this alternative perspective on glass as a material, she often surprises in both characteristic and look.

By questioning the structures that underly typical traditions and techniques, and with a desire to explore cultural aspects, Sara conducts a study in glass based on values, aesthetics and social nature.
