Illustrations Group Show

The group show Nordic Circle, 24th November - 9th December 2022, featured Six Nordic Illustrators.

Veronica Ballart Lilja

 Veronica Ballart Lilja is a Swedish illustrator based in New York. 

She got her degree in graphic design from IDEP in Barcelona and spent 15 years in Spain before moving to New York.  

Veronica has been working as a full-time illustrator since 2007 and her clients are mainly in the fields of fashion, textile, editorials, magazines, advertising, packaging, and stamps. 

Most of Veronica’s work is in watercolor, mixing different techniques, and her style is described as feminine, colorful, and sensitive.

Her book “If you are bored with watercolors, read this book” has been translated into several languages and published in countries like the US, UK, Brazil, Germany, France, Russia, Spain, Norway, and Sweden.

Pauliina Mäkelä

Pauliina Mäkelä (b. 1980) is a Finnish artist working between illustration, visual arts, comics and performing arts. Pauliina is known for her abundant and ambiguous pencil drawings that blur the line between the real and the imagined, creating a space for wonder.

In her imaginative parallels and juxtapositions she explores the uncertainty of being through dreamlike narratives and fragile interspeciesism.

Pauliina received the prestigious Illustrator of the Year Award in 2021 given by the Finnish Illustration Association, and her work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums in Europe, Japan and the United States.

Sólveig Alda

Sólveig Alda Halldórsdóttir is an illustrator, artist and a writer.

Her latest illustrations are delicate and whimsical moments inspired by nature and memories of specific places. In the last few years she has moved away from her previous work and focused solely on drawing and developing her visual storytelling.

She is currently illustrating a series of graphic novels and works as a freelance illustrator.

Her most recent exhibits were at Systrasamlagið Reykjavík, Iceland and at the Print&Resist Zine Fest, Madison, WI. 

Sólveig has exhibited at various art shows, including Upp-Skurður at Skaftfell Center for Visual Art, Rafmögnuð Fjallamjólk at Klink and Bank, Reykjavík and Fjallkonan, an annual show, at Seyðisfjörður, Iceland. Sólveig co-curated The Idea of North, a three-part exhibition of contemporary sound art, set up in Canada, Iceland and Norway.

She also has experience in publication and editing, photography and graphic design, cultural management (director of Skaftfell Center for Visual Art) and various curatorial work. She has experience in set and prop design for theater (Dido and Aeneas by Purcell, Reykjavik City Theater).

Sólveig is passionate about environmental, gender and other social justice issues.

She is a founding member of Alda, an association of democracy and sustainability, a think-and-do tank in Iceland, and she has a degree in Visual Art from the Iceland University of the Arts.


Hans Petter Fjugstad

Hans Petter Fjugstad is Fine Art painter, sculpturer and film maker from Norway, but lives and works in Spain Altea.

His educational background consists of degrees from MMI Market and Media institut & Oslo drawing and painting School, JVS school of fine art

In between his art studies and exhibitions around Norway, he’s worked in the film industry in Norway and USA (New York and Los Angeles) , England, Italy, France, Sweden and Denmark.

He has more than 300 productions to he his credit, having worked as Producer and Film Director with commercials, TV, shortfilms, documentaries and feature films.

Some of his clients were Rimi, Joker, Pepsi, Mitsubishi, Eldorado, Bygg Makker, Electrolux, Telenor.

After several Art exhibitions in Norway, he decorated I Finger in Regent street London and the Norwegian Consul in New York. He has also painted several frescos in Grand Hotel Oslo and in several private places on the Costa Blanca in Spain, as well as the Norwegian school and voluntary central.

He also worked on the art project Casa Abogat in Xativa, where he now has an ongoing sculpture park.

He exihibited on many locations in Norway, in Spain, Barcelona and at the Costa Blanca.
His upcoming Exhibitions for 2022 are in Barcelona, Castellon, Amsterdam and Oslo.


Mia Marie Overgaard

Born and residing in Denmark, with a couple of stints to New York and Toronto, Mia Marie Overgaard has been working as a professional artist since graduating from the Royal Danish Academy of Architecture’s School of Design in 2006.

Mia’s creative curiosity has allowed her to span a variety of media and creative fields, from fine art to editorial and children’s book illustration, from graphic design to packaging, and pattern & fashion illustration.

Mia’s distinctive illustrations has appeared in numerous books and publications worldwide such as The Beautiful - illustrations for Fashion & Style published by Gestalten, Illustration NOW 3 and Illustration NOW! Fashion published by Taschen.

Mia has also hosted illustration workshops at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts' School of Design and the Fashion Design Academy in Copenhagen.

USA, France, UK, Estonia, Sweden, Denmark and Japan are among the locations Mia’s work has been exhibited.
Clients include Gap, ASOS, The Telegraph, Wall Street Journal, Neiman Marcus, Marie Claire, VW and Premiere Vision Paris.

Evelin Toledano

Evelin Toledano is a Swedish-born, Spanish-raised Illustrator and Artist, currently based between Lanzarote & Barcelona.

Her distinctive style combines a mastery of colour with beautiful, pared-back simplicity. Her art captures moments of stillness in the natural world
and architecture, and In her more recent work she focuses on the empowerment of the female form in all its shapes and sizes.

Starting in Graphic design, Evelin’s craft has taken her around the world, living and working in Barcelona, London and Sydney, producing work for wide-ranging clients. Her art has filled both collaborative and solo exhibitions and is now branching into spaces outside the canvas like fashion and mural painting.


I love to paint ordinary bodies, transforming skin-tones, curves and shapes into abstract forms that give the female figure an untainted arena to display her strength and beauty.
